The Bonaparte family's ancestral house is Maison Bonaparte. Francesco, the first Bonaparte to emigrate to Corsica, is believed to have begun the family's history in Corsica in the late 15th century in this house.
Eight of Carlo Bonaparte's twelve children survived, and seven of them were born in this house — Joseph, Napoleon, Lucien, Elisa, Louis, Pauline, Caroline, and Jérôme.
As affluent landowners, their income came from the production of wine, oil, grain, fruit, milk, cheese, and meat on their farms and fields, which they used to feed their family and servants. On the French island of Corsica's main street, Saint-Charles is where this residence is situated. This house was famed as Napoleon's birth house. In 1967, the mansion was turned into a national museum.
