Many hiking trails thrill trekkers in the mountains surrounding Annecy, the Venice of the Alps. The route that climbs to La Tournette, a Borne's massif summit that rises to 2,351 m above sea level, is one of the most well-liked circuits to take while camping in Annecy. Its fame is due in part to its enormous size and the 360-degree panoramic views of the French Alps and Lake Annecy.

  • This hike has several possible departure times. The paths that depart from Lake Annecy and Les Dents de Lanfon are the longest and most difficult. We chose the track that begins at the chalet de l'Aulp, above the Col de la Forclaz, to make it more accessible to hikers in general. The time for climbing has come, so put your car in the chalet restaurant's parking lot, fasten your laces, grab your sunblock, adjust your poles and glasses, and check your pack.
  • Hike from De L'aulp to La Tournette: The alpine cows will keep an eye on you as you begin to walk, and before you know it, your calves and quadriceps will be put to the test. Take this trek seriously above all else because this mountain demands it, and the summits you think you can reach are always farther away than you think. Altitude also has an impact, and if you use up your batteries too rapidly, you can run out of air on the last section.
  • If you continue up the meandering trail, you will eventually reach a tiny plateau next to the former Casset chalet after 45 to an hour of ascent. You'll notice sheep that like to hide out in the shade of rocky outcroppings on hot days. Follow the grass as it leads across the plateau to the left.
  • Above all, avoid remaining at the cliff's base. Continue climbing and join the gravel road after navigating the minor streams created by the melting snow. You'll notice that the trail gets steadily hillier. You can halt at another little plateau after climbing for an hour from the shelter. The lovely shape of Lake Annecy can be seen below. You'll be surprised by Pierre Châtelard's remarkable shape as well.
