One of Doha's well-known monuments, Fanar, known and adored by the people of Qatar, can be seen from a distance, especially in the evenings when its lights accentuate the distinctive minaret of this lovely center. Before the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab Mosque replaced Fanar, it was the largest mosque in the nation.
Things to do at Fanar Qatar Islamic Center:
- Experience vocal for local culture: Fanar is a government-sponsored project in Qatar that was built to showcase the splendor of Qatari culture to the outside world. It engages visitors to the center in a dialogue of perceptions, regardless of whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims, and shows them the world of Islam in several different languages by rationalizing it for them through the use of various media to present a variety of different themes and ideas to the community in Qatar.
- Educational endeavors: Various instructive yet memorable activities are available, including exhibitions, tours of the cultural center, trips to the mosque, Arabic language lessons, and the one-of-a-kind chance to listen to the Friday sermon in English. Islam-related workshops are offered, and Fanar also provides visits to the Katara Mosque, where visitors may learn more about Islam, see what it's like inside a mosque, and participate in prayers.
- Go through journals and newsletters: The center is renowned for publishing a lot of Islamic research. The permanent display and library both provide information on the fundamentals of Islam.
- Study Arabic: With classes that span from learning the fundamental Arabic alphabet to reading and writing the language fluently in an interactive setting, Fanar is an excellent location to study Arabic. The Arabic course is divided into five levels, beginning with the very fundamentals of the alphabet and moving to a point where the student is adept at speaking, reading, writing, and listening.
- Meet-ups with like-minded community: In addition to a mosque, Fanar is home to a cultural center where women can participate in traditional Arabic coffee morning discussions on Qatari culture, lifestyle, and heritage, among other topics.
